Privacy policy
Updated October 16, 2026
The short version: your health and food data stay on your iPhone. Kidney Compass has no accounts and no servers of its own, and never sells or shares your data or uses it for advertising.
What stays on your device
Everything you enter (your kidney disease stage and dialysis type, weight, daily limits, food and fluid logs, recipes, custom foods and lab results) is stored only in the app on your iPhone. We cannot see it. It is included in your iPhone’s own encrypted backups if you use them. Deleting the app deletes this data.
What leaves your device, and why
- Barcode lookups: when you scan a product that isn’t in the built-in database, the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org), a non-profit food database, to look it up. Nothing else about you is sent. Open Food Facts’ own privacy policy applies to that request.
- Purchases: subscriptions are handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to check whether you have an active subscription. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history from Apple; it does not receive your health or food data.
- Crash reports (if enabled in this version): if the app crashes, a technical report (device model, iOS version, app version and the error) may be sent to Sentry so we can fix the bug. We configure it to exclude personal information, food names, nutrient values and lab results.
Backups you make
If you use Export backup, the app creates a file and you choose where to send it (for example Files or AirDrop). That file contains your data; keep it somewhere safe.
Children
Kidney Compass is not intended for children under 13.
Your choices
You can delete individual entries at any time, or all data by deleting the app. Contact: support@northwrightlabs.com
